Wallet recovery

Recover an old PEPEPOW Android wallet.

Use this only for the retired Android v1.0.0 wallet when the app no longer sends coins or importing the same 12 words into PEPEW Light shows a zero balance.

Your 12 words and private keys stay in this browser tab. They are not uploaded or stored by pepepow.net. If balance lookup is used, only derived public addresses are sent to light.pepepow.net.

Step 1

Enter the old wallet recovery phrase.

Ready. If you know the old public address, enter it above to avoid balance scanning.

Step 2

Check that your old funds were found.

When an address with your expected balance appears, open it in Explorer and check the amount. If it is correct, continue with Show Recovery Key.

Technical note: the old Android wallet used multiple HD (hierarchical deterministic) addresses. In simple terms, one 12-word recovery phrase can control many different wallet addresses.

After your funds are found

Recover the coins in 4 simple steps.

  1. Show and copy the Recovery Key.
Click Show Recovery Key under the address that has your funds.
Technical term: this is a WIF private key — the private key for that recovered address.
  2. Open PEPEPOW Core (desktop wallet).
In PEPEPOW Core, open Tools → Debug console.
The Debug console is the command window inside the PEPEPOW Core desktop wallet. If you do not have Core installed, get it from the Wallets page.
  3. Import the Recovery Key.
Paste this command, replacing YOUR_RECOVERY_KEY with the key you copied:importprivkey "YOUR_RECOVERY_KEY" "old-android-wallet"Technical term: importprivkey tells PEPEPOW Core to add that recovered address to the desktop wallet so it can spend the coins.
  4. Wait for the balance, then move the coins.
After PEPEPOW Core finishes scanning, confirm the old balance appears. Then send the full balance to a new PEPEW Light Wallet address.
Important: Never send your 12 words or Recovery Key (WIF private key) to anyone. Do not post them in Discord, Telegram, email, GitHub, or support chat.

If more than one recovered address has a balance, repeat the import step for each Recovery Key. After the coins are moved to a new wallet, stop using the old Recovery Keys.
